Sunshine vitamin

It is thought that many over 65 could have a deficiency of Vitamin D, especially those in northern parts of the country. A low level is linked to Multiple Sclerosis and other autoimmune conditions involving muscles and bone. The daily intake of food supplies most nutrients but sunshine is needed for the process required in producing Vitamin D. Supplements may be needed so patients at risk should have their levels of Vitamin D checked and if low, supplements should be given. Oily fish is a good source of many nutrients.
