Helped by physiotherapy

An elderly patient who had two new hips to relieve the symptoms of arthritis, told of her recovery after having physiotherapy.

Following surgery and then steroid therapy for polymyalgia rheumatica, this patient found that there had been an extensive loss of muscle strength as no-one advised her to exercise. She reported that she had now been given physiotherapy and worked hard at her exercises. She attended sessions in the NHS and then privately.

She recommended that this therapy be made more available and that she now attended a chair-based exercise group.
