Is some fat healthier than another?

It's better to be pear-shaped than apple-shaped. 

It appears that the cells holding fat in the tummy area are cells which get bigger and bigger if there is excess fat in the blood stream. When they are overfull unhealthy fat is released into the body. This fat is detrimental to the circulatory system, leading to clots and inflammation in the blood vessels. It tends also to lead to Type 2 diabetes.

On the other hand fat deposited in the hip area is generally stored in new cells and is stored over longer periods without damage. 

Preventing both is the best way forward and the more activity the better.
