Running or walking?
Research has confirmed that more calories are burnt up running the same distance as walking.
The reason for this is that the movement of the body in running, involves lifting the weight of the body up and down with each step. It is thus an anti-gravity activity burning up more calories than walking. In men, 124 calories are burnt compared to 88 in walking the same distance. Women burn up 105 compared to 74.
Both are excellent for health. What if it takes longer to burn up the equivalent calories in walking? Enjoy the view!
