Coping with breathing in cold weather
The British Lung Foundation has good advice for those with lung conditions.
Dress with layers of clothing that can be peeled off if too warm or add to if you go into another room or outside.
Breathing through the nose warms and moistens the air before it hits the lungs.
Use inhalers half an hour before going out giving them time to take effect.
Make sure your central heating is adequate. If you are having difficulty in meeting your fuel bill, mention this to your surgery who can put you in touch with those who may be able to help. If it prevents illness you are doing your surgery a favour.
